Effective career guidance in secondary schools is essential for equipping students to navigate their future pathways with confidence. By integrating the Gatsby Benchmarks, schools can develop a comprehensive career program that provides consistent support, current labour market insights, tailored assistance, curriculum links to various professions, opportunities to engage with employers, workplace experiences, educational pathways, and personalised counselling.

Meeting these benchmarks empowers students to make well-informed decisions, develop critical skills, and explore diverse career options, laying the foundation for them to reach their full potential.

At EBP, we specialise in supporting Career Leaders at schools and colleges achieve and sustain these benchmarks. Our tailored services are designed to elevate career development programs, ensuring students are prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Thank you to the organisations, STEM Ambassadors, employers and employees invited into Torpoint Community College to work with year 9 students on Wednesday 11th December. Year 9 students completed a speed networking session in the morning; working in small groups to talk to each visitor and find out about the sector or future pathway they were representing. Students had prepared for the event in tutor time, considering the types of questions to ask. Year 9 students are about to choose their option choices and so this is an important time to start considering future careers and pathways.

In P.5 parents and all students were invited to register to attend so that parents could also come and speak to the representatives present. Thank you to parents for supporting this.

Conducting Year 11 mock interviews at Torpoint Community College was an enriching experience. It was a pleasure to engage with such bright and enthusiastic students who are on the brink of their career journeys. The process not only allowed them to practice essential interview skills but also gave me the opportunity to share insights and provide guidance that could help them in the future. A heartfelt thank you to Davina Bray for inviting me to be a part of this valuable initiative. It's inspiring to see the dedication and effort put into preparing young minds for their next steps in life. Looking forward to more such opportunities to contribute to the community!
