We are proposing to lower the speed limit and introduce Average Speed Cameras.
What are we consulting on?
The works carried out will consist of the installation of average speed cameras and lowing the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph in the area where the cameras are located.
New signs will be implemented to ensure the legality of the speed limit while providing a clear warning of the Average Speed Camera system, to maximise compliance with the new proposed limit.
Why are we doing this?
The proposal has arisen from the concerns of local stakeholders and the wider community over the frequency and severity of road accidents as a result of traffic exceeding the National Speed Limit (60mph).
The project is jointly funded by Cornwall Council (CC) and Vision Zero South-West with an overall objective to reduce overall traffic speeds and to improve road safety in the area.
