Apply for a Creative Community Engagement Micro-Grant!

Each year, Directors of Public Health produce an annual report that tells the story about the health of their population. In Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly we have chosen to use this year’s report, which will be a joint report with the Directors of Children’s Services for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, as a vehicle for shining the spotlight on the significant issue of child poverty. However, we cannot fully understand or address the impact of child poverty unless we involve babies, children and young people with direct experience of poverty themselves.

We need your help to engage with babies, children and young people

We are inviting local voluntary and community groups and organisations who work with babies, children, young people and their families, to deliver creative engagement activities to capture the lived/living experiences of growing up in poverty in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.

We have small grants available of up to £500 to support the costs of delivering these engagement activities. However, we welcome discussions for proposals that may require a higher budget if exceptional need or innovative approaches can be demonstrated (please contact us on phdesk@cornwall.gov.uk to discuss before applying).

What your engagement activities look like is entirely up to you, however we would encourage you to be creative in how you capture responses! You may wish to use the medium of drawings, photos, videos, poetry, sculptures, audio recordings, comic book strips – whatever your participants feel comfortable with.

Interested in applying?

Please read the application pack on this page (see documents section to download pack) in full. This pack provides key details about the focus of the engagement activities, timelines, and terms and conditions of the grant. Then apply using our online application form. The deadline for applications is midday on Friday 16th May 2025.
