Cornwall's festive events

I love to help organise and take part in one of Cornwall's many festive events (also known as Intangible Cultural Heritage). In particular is the ancient St Germans May Tree Fair, recently revived by the local community in 2012 in SE Cornwall. Having moved to Cornwall this event really helped me to feel further connected to the village. The event brings people together to celebrate their heritage and creates a sense of belonging. This was most strongly felt during the procession as we moved through the beautiful village centre and landscape. Walking and playing the May Tree tune with my neighbours made me feel quite moved and emotional. In addition, the day is about fun and some of the Cornish Celtic music played by musicians connected me with my personal family connections with Ireland and some very happy days!
