Set up a crowdfunding campaign to secure match funding for your project
Cornwall Council and Crowdfunder have come together to support projects that help our response to climate change and promote nature recovery in Cornwall.
If your project meets the criteria, you can apply for a grant to match fund up to £5,000 – for exceptional projects that could offer a larger impact, we may offer grants of up to £15,000.
Projects must support at least one of the following themes:
Helping our climate emergency response
Promoting nature recovery
Tree planting
Projects that may be eligible include:
Installing clean energy technologies – this could include solar panels and battery storage or EV charge points at community buildings and sports clubs.
Energy efficiency and heating system improvements to reduce fossil fuel use in buildings that serve communities – this could include energy efficient measures such as LED lighting and insulation or upgrading heating/cooling systems to those that don’t use fossil fuels.
Community, social enterprise, or business-led activities that help to reduce carbon emissions and pollution – this could include the purchase of an electric vehicle for a local car club, or the capital costs of setting up a recycle/reuse shop or community supported agriculture scheme.
Enhancing or creating wildlife habitats on school grounds, urban green spaces, community land, or privately owned land that has public access.
Activities that reduce invasive species, litter, noise, or light pollution in the environment.
One-off events that support nature recovery and/or promote low carbon choices and behaviour change – this could include conferences, workshops, or creative performances.
Educational programmes that help people connect with their environment – this could include forest schools, marine focused interventions, youth-led podcasts, or practical workshop series.
One-off capital costs are the main focus of the fund.
Ongoing running costs, including salaries, are not eligible.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Our team is available to talk through ideas and support with the application process. Get in touch with the team: climatechange@cornwall.gov.uk and/or grow-nature@cornwall.gov.uk
Since setting up the fund, we have supported a wide range of projects across Cornwall that help promote nature recovery, support the climate emergency response, and involve planting trees. From solar panels on a surf-life saving club and a hedgehog hospital, to reintroducing water voles and storks, outdoor learning spaces, community agriculture schemes, a biochar project and the development of a temperate rainforest research station – we are seeing projects being delivered right across Cornwall and reaching so many communities.
