Improvements to crossings and pavements are proposed along Bickland Water Road, Falmouth.

What are we consulting on?

The Bickland Water Road scheme seeks to make walking and cycling (active travel) more attractive, by providing a continuous widened path along the eastern side of the road. The existing footway will be widened to three meters wide where possible.

Four new signalised pedestrian/cycle crossings are proposed in place of existing crossings, to improve safety between residential, industrial and the local schools. Priority give way crossings will be provided at several side roads along the route. Junction widths will be reduced to improve crossing distance and reduce vehicle speeds, with seating areas provided where possible. Double yellow lines will be introduced or refreshed, to prevent obstructive parking.

Why are we doing this?

Overall, the proposed restrictions and crossing/cycle facilities will promote safety for all road users, and prevent obstructive/inappropriate parking, whilst creating provision for parking where needed.
