Lockdown lifesavers.
by lovealldogz, almost 4 years agoMy Hero during the lockdown was my brother. He was able to obtain deliveries
from Tesco so added things to his order for me also. I have no transport so he brought my items to me in his car. My neighbours are awful, a stalking weirdo with mental health problems on one side and dirty alcoholics on the other. Seeing my brother to talk to and being able to facetime/text/email my son 250 miles away has kept me sane. The friendly people in the local greengrocers and Health food shop have stayed open through all this and also deserve a... Continue reading

volunteer cornwall......you made it work for us....the volunteers
by rob, almost 4 years agoThe guys at volunteer Cornwall....brilliant, polite, friendly and dedicated to organising us the volunteers be with the right people. I think if they actually realised that their involvement was more than helping the vulnerable, we were all on lockdown and some live alone, so being involved gave a sense of purpose and when you have not seen or spoken to anyone for days on end, receiving a friendly call from one of the organisers was quite welcome and they were always a pleasure to talk too. guys I have enjoyed my contribution and a service well organised and well executed.

My Covid 19 Food Heroes
by GrannySeaSide, almost 4 years agowould like to thank the folks at Leedstown Farm Shop who during this stressful uncertain time reinvented themselves to provide us with a huge variety of foodstuffs which previously they did not stock. The shop was completely reorganised and re stocked. They also provided a free delivery service to those like me who were shielding and unable to shop personally, whereas large supermarkets continued to charge for deliveries regardless (when you could actually get one!). In addition I would like to thank Travaskis Farm for also providing a delivery service throughout lockdown and who have introduced a super click and... Continue reading

NHS home visits
by Goodgoff, almost 4 years agoMy wife has really appreciated the support from Derriford pharmacy and Callington surgery over the lockdown.
She is on a breast cancer immunotherapy course of treatment, so could not leave home. Medicines have been delivered and blood samples taken by visiting doctors and nurses at regular intervals to a well managed routine.
Thanks to these extra efforts we have both managed to keep well.

Carers
by Lel, almost 4 years agoI want to acknowledge all carers, particularly unpaid ones; and also Shared Lives South West carers. They have found themselves caring for 24 hours a day ( Shared Lives is not a 24 hour service) to people staying with them. They have been creative throughout and I take my hat off to them all.

Looe Volunteers
by heather, almost 4 years agoI would like to thank the lady from Looe Volunteers who has rung me every week to see if I needed help with anything. I live on my own and my family are all in Oxfordshire but I am very lucky as I have managed during lockdown. On-line shopping was a challenge to start with but I was never without anything important. I don't know the lady's name but she rang and had a chat about anything and everything for a few minutes. She was always calm , cheerful and very friendly and although I was ok it was lovely... Bodmin Bikers
by Bodmin Shielder, almost 4 years agoI very big thank you to this great team. They helped with shopping and picking up medicine. As a group they were quick to respond to requests, polite and made you smile when they turned up in fancy dress. They were particularly helpful during the first weeks of lockdown before we got on the government shielding list. Great team
